(SPECIAL ORDER) Tesselata Eel

The Tesselata Moray Eel, Gymnothorax tesselatus, is a beautifully patterned marine eel with a mosaic of brown and cream markings, making it a visually striking centerpiece for a predator tank. It requires a minimum tank size of 150–180 gallons, with salinity of 1.023–1.025, pH 8.1–8.4, and temperature 75–80°F (24–27°C). Carnivorous and mostly nocturnal, it feeds on meaty foods like shrimp, squid, and small fish, and should be kept with larger, non-aggressive tankmates while avoiding small or slow-moving species. Tesselata Morays need ample rockwork and hiding spots, plus a secure lid to prevent escapes. This is a Moderate species, hardy for aquarists with some experience, but proper care and monitoring are recommended to ensure health and well-being.
