The Banded Bamboo Shark, Chiloscyllium punctatum, is a small, bottom-dwelling shark known for its slender body and distinctive dark bands over a light background. It requires a minimum tank size of 180 gallons, with salinity 1.023–1.025, pH 8.1–8.4, and temperature 75–82°F (24–28°C). Carnivorous, it feeds on meaty foods such as shrimp, squid, clams, and small fish. Banded Bamboo Sharks are generally sedentary but need a soft sandy substrate and plenty of hiding places among rockwork. This is an EXPERT-ONLY species due to its specific dietary requirements, delicate handling, and sensitivity to water quality, and it is exempt from any guarantees.
