The Asfur Angelfish is a large and highly sought-after marine angelfish native to the Red Sea and western Indian Ocean, typically found around coral-rich reef slopes and lagoons. This species requires a minimum tank size of 220 gallons due to its adult size and active swimming behavior. Ideal water conditions are 72–78°F, salinity 1.020–1.025, and pH 8.1–8.4. Asfur angels are omnivores, feeding on marine sponge, algae, tunicates, and meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, clam, and high-quality angelfish preparations. Juveniles display a dark blue body with electric blue lines, while adults develop a striking deep blue body with a bright yellow tail and mid-body band. They are semi-aggressive, especially toward other angelfish, and should be housed with larger, compatible tankmates in spacious aquariums with ample rockwork for grazing and shelter.
