(SPECIAL ORDER) PINKTAIL TRIGGER

The Pinktail Triggerfish, Melichthys vidua, is a large and attractive marine fish known for its dark body and distinctive pink to reddish tail. It requires a minimum tank size of 180 gallons, with salinity 1.023–1.025, pH 8.1–8.4, and temperature 75–80°F (24–27°C). Omnivorous by nature, it feeds on a variety of foods including shrimp, squid, fish, and high-quality marine pellets or frozen preparations. Compared to many triggerfish, this species is relatively peaceful and can often be kept with a variety of other medium to large marine fish, though small invertebrates may still be at risk. The Pinktail Triggerfish benefits from plenty of rockwork for shelter along with open swimming space and strong filtration. This is a Moderate species, suitable for aquarists with some saltwater experience.
