The Orange Pygmy Basslet is a small, secretive basslet native to the Caribbean Sea and western Atlantic, typically found inhabiting rocky reef ledges, caves, and shaded crevices. A minimum tank size of 30–50 gallons is recommended with plenty of live rock and hiding spaces to replicate its natural habitat. Ideal water parameters are 72–78°F, salinity 1.020–1.025, and pH 8.1–8.4 with stable, high-quality conditions. Orange Pygmy Basslets are carnivorous, feeding on small crustaceans, zooplankton, and marine worms, and should be offered a varied diet including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and finely chopped marine foods. They are peaceful and reef-safe, thriving best in mature aquariums with calm tankmates and plenty of rockwork for shelter.
