The Bartlett’s Anthias is a hardy and colorful planktivorous reef fish native to the central and western Pacific, most commonly found along reef slopes and coral-rich drop-offs where they form active groups above the reef. A minimum tank size of 70–120 gallons is recommended when keeping groups, as they naturally form harems with one dominant male and several females. Ideal water parameters are 72–78°F, salinity 1.020–1.025, and pH 8.1–8.4 with good water movement and stable conditions. Bartlett’s Anthias feed primarily on zooplankton and small crustaceans, and should be offered multiple daily feedings of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and finely chopped marine foods. They are active, generally peaceful, and reef-compatible, making them one of the more durable anthias species when maintained in mature aquariums with plenty of swimming space and calm tankmates.
