(SPECIAL ORDER) Banded Angel
The Banded Angelfish is a rare and highly specialized marine angelfish native to the eastern Pacific Ocean, primarily around Hawaii and nearby island reefs, where it inhabits deeper reef slopes and rocky coral habitats. Due to its size and swimming behavior, a minimum tank size of 180–220 gallons is recommended. Ideal water parameters are 72–78°F, salinity 1.020–1.025, and pH 8.1–8.4 with stable, high-quality water conditions. Banded angels are omnivores with a heavy sponge-based diet, naturally feeding on marine sponges, tunicates, algae, and small invertebrates, so they should be offered angelfish sponge preparations, mysis shrimp, clam, and marine algae. This species is considered advanced to expert level due to its sensitive feeding requirements and acclimation challenges, and it should be housed in a mature aquarium with abundant live rock for grazing and hiding spaces.
